Every point on the home page is a catalogue entry, not decoration. All 25,717 of them carry a right ascension, a declination, a magnitude and a colour index, and they are placed by those numbers alone. Brightness and tint follow the measured values, so a red star looks red because it is one.

首页上的每一个点都是星表条目，不是装饰。全部 25,717 颗都带有赤经、赤纬、星等和色指数， 位置完全由这些数字决定。亮度和色调也来自实测值 —— 一颗红星看上去是红的，因为它本来就是红的。

The stars come from the HYG catalogue. The Milky Way behind them is NASA's Deep Star Maps 2020, assembled from Hipparcos, Tycho-2, Gaia DR2 and UCAC3. Chinese asterisms are drawn from the traditional mansion system; Western constellation lines run alongside them. Sources and licences.

Every life is worth recording. Trace the influences between them — who shaped whom, and what that set in motion — and individual lives stop being separate stories. They become one picture of the whole of us.

The app is not released, and there is nothing to download yet. My Star lets you search the sky; My Epic lets you browse a star-chart calendar, following dates along the Sun's path. When there is an app, this page will say so — we would rather tell you nothing than tell you a date we cannot keep.
