Permissions to share and adapt
Attribution 4.0 International permits copying and redistribution across media, as well as remixing, transformation and further creation. These permissions include commercial purposes rather than requiring every subsequent distribution to be free of charge.
The licensor cannot revoke the granted freedoms while users follow the terms. Permission does not itself transfer copyright ownership, and users need not wait for the work’s protection to expire.

Attribution and identifying changes
Users must provide appropriate credit, link to the licence and indicate changes. Presentation can reasonably fit the medium and context without suggesting endorsement of the user or use.
Attribution identifies the original contribution, while a change notice distinguishes later interventions. In translation or editing, these functions remain separate; a name alone does not necessarily communicate every required element.

Additional restrictions and other rights
Additional legal terms or technological measures must not restrict acts the licence permits. BY does not impose a ShareAlike condition, while applicable obligations concerning the reused material remain.
Public-domain elements and uses allowed by an exception do not depend on this grant. Other rights can still matter, and no warranties are supplied. This account concerns version 4.0 rather than assuming every earlier version is identical.
